You don't need to have an account with books.ch to be able to place an order. The advantages of  having an account are: Detailed information about your past and pending orders and not having to re-enter your personal details for each order. Having an account is necessary for placing a download order (eBooks, Software, Audiobooks).

You can create an account by hitting "Create account" on the top right of any books.ch page.
